Celtic warfare went back centuries, and individual warrior warfare survived in the Highlands and Islands. It was modified by Norse or Viking influences, but elsewhere in Scotland, feudal warfare, with steel-encased fighters seated on hugh horses and operating out of feudal castles, came into Scotland from across the border. If Largs were a Norse-Celtic battle, Bannockburn was new feudal warfare.
