Early History
The early history of Celtic Christianity begins in Ireland, where it slowly amalgamates with the older earth-based religions before moving out into the larger British Isles. It is filled with such figures as Ninian, Brigid, and Columba, along with hundreds of other Celtic saints who carry the message throughout Scotland. But by the time of Malcolm Canmore in the 11th century, it is suffering from fatigue, disorganization, and lack of direction.
