Flora MacDonald
After his defeat at Culloden Moor, Prince Charles Stuart fled into the more remote regions of north and northwest Scotland, evading the Hanoverian troops and making time until the French ship would arrive to take him into exile. On Skye, Flora MacDonald would assist him in eluding the troops searching for him. He escaped, but she was arrested, and became a Jacobite heroine who later, with her husband, resettled in the Carolinas immediately before the American Revolution.
