Quick Overview

These notes by Sir AEneas Mackintosh relate both to his estates and to his life and lifestyle at Moy, and they give a good picture of what it would have been like to be a well-traveled laird on a Highland estate at the end of the eighteenth century.

Product Description

8 pages. Downloadable pdf.

In 1784, Sir AEneas Mackintosh of Mackintosh had just returned home from a stint in military service in America, and over a period of seven weeks, he made notes about his estates in Lochaber, which he was visiting for the first time in many years. The notes relate both to his estates and to his life and lifestyle at Moy, and they give a good picture of what it would have been like to be a well-traveled laird on a Highland estate at the end of the eighteenth century.
